Divina’s Angels is the brainchild of Margarita “Apple” Cabral—a dream she has carried for many years to honor her mother’s passion: cooking.
“Divina,” her mother’s full name, was lovingly known as Ma, Mama, or Mama Dedeng. She created every dish with painstaking care. While rooted in tradition, her cooking always had a distinct touch—her own spin on classic recipes that never failed to hit the spot.
Mama was trained the old-fashioned way. She believed in doing things properly, without shortcuts. If a recipe called for ground peanuts, then ground peanuts it had to be—not peanut butter, not substitutes. That level of care and respect for the craft defined her cooking.
In our family—across aunts, uncles, cousins, and generations—food has never been just fuel. It’s an experience. And Mama made sure every meal felt that way.
When we sat down to eat, it wasn’t just about how good the food tasted. It was about what it made us feel. Each dish carried warmth, comfort, and memory—the feeling of a tight hug after a long day out in the cold, the rain, and the wind. A kind of protection that held steady through life’s challenges. Worries seemed to melt away, replaced by a simple question: Should I go for one more serving… or two?
Those same emotions and memories come alive every time we cook one of Mama’s dishes today.
Now, in this beautiful stage of her life, Apple wants to honor and preserve Mama’s legacy. Every dish she prepares is made with pride—the same pride Mama carried in her kitchen.
To share with viewers a collection of contemporary Spanish, Filipino, and Chinese fusion dishes so exceptional, they deserve a lifelong homage.
Each recipe is crafted with passion—adaptable across regions and ingredients—yet always delivering the unmistakable depth, warmth, and excitement that define Mama’s cooking.
